Large Chamomile Essential Oil Extraction Equipment

Chamomile is one of the oldest, most widely used, and best documented medicinal plants in the world and is recommended for a variety of therapeutic applications. Chamomile is a member of the Asteraceae plant family. There are two commonly used medicinal chamomiles today: German chamomile (chamomilla recutita) and Roman chamomile.

Roman chamomile is mainly cultivated in Germany, Spain, Italy, Mexico and France.

German chamomile is grown mostly in Hungary, Egypt, Eastern Europe and France.

Roman Chamomile essential oil is distilled from the flowers of the plant and has a sweet, fresh, apple-like fruity aroma. After distillation, the color of fresh oil ranges from peacock blue to dark green, which turns to deep yellow after storage. Although the color becomes lighter, the effectiveness of the essential oils does not diminish. About 120 chemical compounds have been identified in chamomile, including 28 terpenoids and 36 flavonoids. Roman chamomile essential oil is mainly composed of esters generated from white bean acid and crotonic acid, farnesene, and α-pinene. It has anti-inflammatory and antibacterial effects.

Roman chamomile essential oil is considered one of the oldest and most versatile essential oils and has been used to combat various ailments including spasms due to its high ester content. Today it is widely used in naturopathic medicine to treat neurological problems, eczema, fever, heartburn, gout, anxiety and insomnia.
