The Beginner's Guide to Essential Oil Distillation Kit

1. Prepare a distiller.

2. For the plant raw materials to be used to make essential oils, those that have not been crushed and ground into powder are the best.

3. Drying the plants will reduce the amount of oil, but because you will be able to accommodate more raw materials in each batch, the output will be greatly increased.

4. Add water to the still. Use clean water, the softer the water is better. The time of distillation depends on the type of plant.

5. Add the plant material to the still, wrap it tightly without chopping it to avoid losing the essential oil, and then place it on a false bottom or grate, avoiding touching the wall as much as possible.

6. Close the still and continue to heat the water until the temperature at which the essential oil is released is about 100-212 degrees Celsius.

7. Pay attention to the distiller to ensure that the water is not burned out. Depending on the distilling time, the water in the condenser may need to be replaced to ensure cooling.

8. Collect the essential oils by filtration. After completing the distillation, you can use dry and clean gauze and dry cotton fabrics to filter. The clean and dry gauze and dry cotton fabrics can prevent the essential oils from being contaminated during filtration.
