Distillation method of hydrosol Essential oil distillation equipment: Distillation is generally divided into two methods: "steam distillation" and "water distillation". It is the most commonly used method for extracting essential oils, and 95% of essential oils are extracted by distillation. During steam distillation, plant materials are mostly placed on the sieve rack in the distiller. Through the passage of high-pressure steam, the essential oils contained in the plant glands are released at the same time and evaporate into the water vapor. When this mixed gas enters the cooling system along the duct, the steam condenses back to a liquid state, and then separates into essential oils and floral water according to the difference in specific gravity and density. This method uses relatively low pressure and temperature, so it is particularly suitable for heat-sensitive essential oils such as orange blossom, rose, jasmine, carnation, clove, mimosa, rosemary, etc.
